Footwear clarification
Thank you to the overwhelming majority of parents/carers and students who have ensured that their footwear choice complies with the school’s uniform policy. There has not been a change to the policy around footwear, but we are aware that a few parents/carers and students are a little unsure on what is and is not acceptable. The full uniform policy is available on our website and the attached document may support you when choosing suitable footwear for your child(ren).
Library book amnesty
We are currently undertaking a stock check in the library which helps us identify missing books. If you have come across one of our books at home, please ask your child to bring it in as soon as possible. Could you also please ask your child to check whether they have one of our books at home.
You can identify our books by the plastic cover, the barcode, the lending plate or the ‘Millthorpe School’ stamp. We are always pleased to see missing books find their way back to the library, so a reward or sweet treat will be offered to students returning one.
York Pride, Saturday 18 June
Millthorpe has a long and indeed proud tradition of supporting York Pride, which celebrates diversity and the LGBT+ community. Alongside other schools and organisations from across the city, staff will be marching with a Millthorpe banner to the event site on the Knavesmire. Students and their families are very welcome to join us or show their support along the route. We will be meeting at Lendal (outside the old post office building) from 11.00 – 11.15am; the march starts at 11.45am and is expected to reach the Knavesmire at about 1.00pm. More details and the route can be found on the York Pride website.
