As the exam season draws to a close, we would like to say a huge ‘WELL DONE’Β to ourΒ Year 11s on their fantastic attitude and effort in their GCSE exams and revision sessions. Following the disruption of the last two years, it’s inspiring to see how well they are approaching this challenge. We wish them all the very best with their results, which will be published on Thursday 25 August.

Calling all performers!

A message from Mrs Sladen:

I am very pleased to be able to announce that, following a two year break due to Covid restrictions, our annual musical production is back!! I will need actors, singers, dancers and backstage crew to be involved and help make this December’s production our best ever…Β however, I have not completely decided at the moment which musical we will perform (although I do have a few favourites in mind!) as I am not exactly sure who would like to be involved!

To this end, I am going to holdΒ auditionsΒ onΒ Wednesday 22Β JuneΒ after schoolΒ in theΒ Drama HallΒ for any students, in any year group, who would like to be considered for a role,Β big or small. Auditionees need to prepare a song from a musical (any you like, as long as thereΒ is a backing track available on YouTube) that they will perform to staff involved in the production in a ‘closed’ audition. I will audition students first and then be able to make a decision on which musicalΒ we will perform once I have an idea of the numbers who wish to be involved and the talent that I know is out there.
There will be a separate meeting and audition for students who wish to be involved in dancing and backstage work in the new academic year. If there are any questions please don’t hesitate to come and see me in the Drama Hall, otherwise, I look forward to being entertained by all our talented students soon – see you then!

The Active Lives Children and Young People’s survey

Last July, Millthorpe School was selected to take part in The Active Lives Children and Young People’s survey, commissioned by Sport England. The survey gathered data on how children engage with sport and physical activity, providing anyone working with children aged 5-16 key data to help understand children’s attitudes and behaviours around sport and activity.

The project is due to end next month, so we would like as many students as possible to complete the survey again to help the researchers assess the impact of the project.
