A message from Ms Greenhalgh
Well, here it is, the end of term and the end of the school year! It has been an absolute pleasure to see our wonderful students going from strength to strength as they have progressed through the year. To those who have left us, we wish you all the best and to those who will be joining us in September, we can’t wait to welcome you to Millthorpe.
My message is short and sweet this week as you will be receiving the Millthorpe Messenger over the weekend. This is packed full with news about all the great things which have happened this half-term, so I won’t repeat it all here. Suffice to say this last week of term has been awesome with Activities Week, Carlton Lodge and the Fun Run all creating lots of smiles! Plus after a sterling effort from the staff to make new arrangements thanks to the heatwave, the Flamingo Land trip for Year 7 and 8 students went ahead yesterday – a brilliant end to the term.
Wishing you all the very best for a happy summer.
Kind regards
Gemma Greenhalgh
Headteacher
Autumn term
School will reopen for the autumn term on Wednesday 7 September for Year 7 students only. We will welcome Year 8-11 students back on Thursday 8 September.
Race for Life
All the students in Years 7, 8 and 9 who took part in the Race for Life were a credit to the school, showing incredible effort, determination and good humour, particularly as the conditions were still warm and muggy. Some students managed an impressive number of laps of the 1k circuit; for others, it was an achievement just to keep going. It was all in a fantastic cause: please show your appreciation for your child’s efforts and support for the cause by donating on the Justgiving page here.
Free or reduced-price kids’ meals over the summer holidays
In a bid to help feed children this summer, a number of supermarkets, restaurants and food chains are offering free or drastically reduced price meals over the holidays. There is a lot of information available online, but a good place to start is the Money Saving Central website.
Safeguarding
If you have significant concerns for the welfare of a child, in addition to being able to contact Mrs Cole during school hours, you may wish to make direct contact with the York MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) on T: 01904 551900, option 3. They operate an out-of-hours service so concerns can be raised with them at any time.
