Help with uniform costs

If your child is eligible for free school meals, we will provide a Β£100 voucher in Year 7 towards the cost of uniform and Β£50 in years 8, 9 and 10. All families can make use of our eco laundry, which sells a range of good quality pre-loved uniform, PE kit and other items at affordable prices. Please contact the school for more information.

Physical Education Kit

From September 2024 and following extensive feedback from our students, we will be revamping our PE kit. Students moving into Years 8-11 in September can continue to wear their current kit – there is no need to replace any part of their PE kit unless you wish to do so. Year 7s should wear the new kit.

In addition to this updated kit being what the students have chosen, it will also be less expensive for families.

PE kit (new items in bold)
  • Navy T-shirt or Polo Top with Millthorpe Logo (this replaces the white Tshirt/Polo)Β
  • Either a Navy Hoodie with Millthorpe Logo (this replaces the Millthorpe fleece) or a Millthorpe Reversible Rugby Top
  • Plain navy shorts or skort
  • White or navy sports socks
  • Shin pads

Optional Items

  • Plain navy tracksuit bottoms
  • Black Leggings: Students can buy Millthorpe leggings or wear plain black sports leggings.Β Β

Footwear
  • Trainers for indoor and outdoor use (footwear for indoor use must be clean)
  • Outdoor trainers
  • Plastic moulded, studded football boots*
*Extra guidance for AGP footwear:

Boots for the AGP (Artificial Grass Pitch) MUST have plastic studs (no metal studs). These boots can be used when we are on the grass pitches, but they will need to be cleaned thoroughly prior to any lessons on the plasticΒ pitch. Astro trainers/boots (designed for sand based artificial surfaces) that have pimpled soles are not allowed on the plastic grass pitch.Β Trainers are also not suitable for the AGP.

Design and Technology/Science

For work in Design and Technology and Science, the school provides aprons/lab coats/goggles where needed which must be worn. Strong shoes should be worn for these subjects. Long hair should be tied back.

Equipment

As a minimum, students are required to have:

  • at least one black or blue pen
  • a pencil
  • a ruler
  • a green pen
  • a purple pen
  • a whiteboard pen

Stationery items are available to buy at either gate each morning before school. The cost is added to ParentPay (cash is not accepted). They can also bring additional stationery such as highlighters, rubbers, coloured pencils, felt tips etc if they wish.

Some subjects will require other specialised equipment, including a maths set (protractor and set square) and a scientific calculator for Maths. Subject teachers will let students and parents know about this and how/where they can buy them.
