eCLIPS

eCLIPS is an online careers information and guidance resource available to all our students and their families. In addition to advice and support on making choices and post-16 pathways, it also allows you to search for specific job information or search based on specific interests. All factsheets on the website are fully printable.

If you have forgotten the password, you can find it in the Google Classroom.

National Citizenship Service

NCS is an organisation funded by the Government which aims to provide 15-17 year olds to build skills for work and life through a summer programme of activities.  Please see this letter and presentation presentation for more details.

Advice and Guidance on part time work for young people.

Young people are often keen to start some form of employment as soon as possible, mainly to earn a little extra spending money.  However as future employers will value any previous work experience there is good motivation for doing so for all.  It is important though to realise the impact of part time work on young people, especially when the academic work load increases in Key Stage 4.  We work with NYBEP to deliver a session offering advice and support to our students in regard to this.  It goes through all regulations in regard to what age young people can enter employment and what restrictions there are on number of hours worked, etc.  It also clarified the rate of pay young people should expect when being offered part time work.

Making decisions about the future can be daunting and confusing. There are lots of different options available to our students and we want them to be in the best position to make those choices in an informed and knowledgeable way.

Psychometric Tests

Psychometric Tests (also known as Aptitude Tests) are a common part of the job interview process at many companies across the world.

They generally consist of a series of timed questions, that are most often numerical (maths questions), verbal (reading comprehension questions) or logical (diagrammatic questions).

Psychometric testing is often used in recruitment to help companies work out which applicants are most likely to be successful in a particular job.

There are many different types of psychometric tests but broadly speaking, they fall into two categories:

  • tests of ability (what a person can do)
  • tests of personality (what a person is like)

The links below will enable you to have a go – for free – at different types of aptitude tests that you might be asked to complete at job interviews in the future.
