A message from Ms Greenhalgh
It’s hard to believe we all arrived at school in the snow this morning and are leaving in the sunshine! Hopefully the nice weather will continue into the weekend.
As you will be aware, national strike action by the National Education Union (NEU) is planned forΒ Wednesday 15Β March and Thursday 16Β March.Β On both these days, we will only be able to open to vulnerable students and students in Years 7 and 11.Β Please refer to theΒ letter which was sent out earlier this week for further information.
We’re looking forward to the Spring Concert next TuesdayΒ (more details below). I know everyone has been working really hard in preparation for the event, so please do come along to support our wonderful students.Β Next week is also British Science WeekΒ and I know the Science Faculty have great plans for our students in Years 7-9.
There are some great opportunities for our young people and their families featured in this week’s email – please do have a look and also let us know if you would like to publicise anything which would benefit members of our school community.
We’re back on Monday with a ‘B’ Week.Β I hope you have a great weekend.
Kind regards
Gemma Greenhalgh
Headteacher
Young Carers Action Day
Mrs Cole and Miss Forrester have delivered assembliesΒ to all year groups this week on ‘Time to Talk’, the theme of this year’sΒ Young CarersΒ Action Day. We have recently surveyed every student in the school and have learnt of a huge increase in the numbers of Young Carers amongst our school community. Once again, our students have responded so maturely to this topic and have shown a keen interest in raisingΒ awareness of the support our Young Carers benefit from.

To date, we’ve raised over Β£400 for the Read for Good charity, and weβd love to get the total up if we can!Β Donations can still be made onlineΒ or cash can be given to Ms Brooks in the library.
British Science Week
British Science Week is a ten-day celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. This year’s theme is ‘Connections’.Β For 2023, British Science Week will take place betweenΒ 10-19 March.Β As we celebrate togetherness, after a period where isolation was a sad but necessary reality, βConnectionsβ is an apt theme for British Science Week 2023.
Nearly all innovations in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths are built on connections between people; two (or more) heads are better than one, after all!
We hope the students enjoy these lessons and we are lookingΒ forward to sharing this with you.
