Many of you, especially those of you in Year 11, will be aware of Frances’ achievements in athletics and cross country. Recently, Frances ran 3.7k in the Intermediate Girls (Y10&11) North Yorkshire Schools Cross Country. She finished in 8th place, with a time of 15:26, to qualify for the County Team in the Northern Counties competition in Middlesbrough.
Frances also represented City of York Athletics Club in the 300m at the England Athletics U17 national indoor track and field championships, in February, and at the U17 Pentathlon EA indoor combined events championships, in March, at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
Congratulations to Frances for her dedication and passion to her sport. As a student in her examination year this involves managing her workload and making some tough decisions and sacrifices along the way. It must be said that Frances is an excellent role model for all our students and an example of what can be achieved with passion, hard work, grit and ability.
