The Millthorpe community has watched the events unfolding in Ukraine in sadness and concern. We are proud of our longstanding tradition of supporting other communities, near and far, who need extra help.
Many people were keen to support refugees and citizens who remain in their homes in Ukraine. Mrs Featherstone, who has connections to charities in Poland, has organised a link between our school and SOS Wioski Dzieciece/ SOS Children’s Villages who are presently working to evacuate children and families to safe places, provide with those still in Ukraine with food and other supplies, and provide trauma support for children and families.
In March we shared information with classes about the war in Ukraine, using reliable sources for learning information and how to spot misinformation. We also asked for donations of money.
We’re thrilled to announce that the appeal for donations to support the charity SOS Children’s Villages has had an overwhelming response from the Millthorpe community.
We raised £ 2,350! The money has been sent to the SOS Children’s Villages to support the critical work the charity is doing with Ukrainian refugee children and families in Poland and in Ukraine.
Thank you so much for your continued support, it is evidence of our generous and caring school community
