A message from Ms Greenhalgh

It’s been a week of mixed emotions for us this week – we waved goodbye to our Year 11 students at our traditional Leavers’ Assembly and can’t wait to celebrate with them at the School Prom this evening. But, as one group of students moves on to pastures new, another cohort is waiting in the wings to take their places at Millthorpe. We’re really looking forward to meeting our new students who will join us in September, at our transition events next week. Looking further into the future, we’ve also been pleased to welcome in Year 5 students from a number of local primary schools to spend some time in a ‘grown up’ science department.

It has been wonderful to see so many of our students going out on Geography field trips once again after a long period of time, with groups visiting Bolton Abbey and Flamborough last week and Hornsea this week. Our intrepid Duke of Edinburgh students in Year 10 have also been out on overnight expeditions.

There are not many more school days left now until the summer break, but there is still a lot to fit in with more trips in KS3 and the summer concert just around the corner.

Wishing you all a very happy weekend!

Headteacher

Farewell Year 11

We are so unbelievably proud of our Year 11 students who have successfully navigated their GCSE exams. Their conduct throughout this stressful time has been exemplary and we are sure that they have done their best and look forward to seeing the fruits of their labour when the results come out in August.

It was simply lovely to see all of our Year 11 students come into school for their final Leavers’ Assembly yesterday. They kindly donated uniform items for our Eco Laundry, which will benefit future students and families, collected leavers hoodies and prom tickets, signed each others’ shirts and enjoyed the assembly.
We hope we were able to give them the send off they deserved but…it doesn’t stop there! We are also really looking forward to welcoming Year 11 students to their prom this evening. After not being able to arrange a prom for several years, we are really looking forward to it.
A huge public thank you to Mrs Hurst, Chief Prom Organiser, who has worked tirelessly to ensure that the Prom is a wonderful celebration of their time at Millthorpe.
To our wonderful staff – thank you for everything that you have done for our Year 11 students not just in recent weeks, but throughout their time with us.
To Year 11 parents and carers – thank you for your unwavering support over the last five years.
To Year 11 students – thank you for being such a wonderful year group. We will miss you and cannot wait to celebrate your time with us at the prom tonight.
