What I thought I wanted to do: Work in finance
What I ended up doing: Communications in the energy industry.
How I got here: I wanted to work in an area where I could help to fight climate change. I did a graduate scheme with a big energy company after university where I was able to try out different areas of the business which is how I discovered communications.
Most useful skill or character trait for my job: Being interested in what I do. There is so much to stay on top of – it’s important I keep learning, so it helps that I am curious and want to learn more!
Top tip! Don’t follow the money – kick off your career in something that you’re passionate about and that’s how you’ll succeed.
