Year 8 PE at Millthorpe School

In Year 8, all students take part in mixed‑ability, mixed‑gender PE lessons, just like other secondary schools across the city. This structure ensures that all students experience inclusive, challenging and enjoyable PE lessons where they learn alongside a diverse range of peers.

Students follow a broad programme of physical activities, giving them the chance to try out a wide range of sports and develop confidence, teamwork and physical skills. Throughout the year, students learn through activities such as invasion games, net/wall sports, athletics, dance and outdoor adventurous activities. Lessons focus on building fundamental movement skills, understanding tactics, improving fitness and encouraging positive participation.

Beyond core lessons, Millthorpe offers a wide range of sports clubs and teams through our enrichment programme. These give students the chance to pursue interests, make new friends and represent the school in both competitive and recreational sport.
