I am currently the Year 8 Progress Leader at Millthorpe. I have proudly been part of the Millthorpe community for over six years. I have had the privilege of leading my current year group since the Y6 transition process. It has been an honour to see them settle into secondary school life, grow in confidence, and begin to thrive both academically and personally. In my role, I am responsible for monitoring their academic progress and ensuring that every student feels supported, valued, and well cared for.

Prior to my role at Millthorpe, I worked for the Supporting Families Team through Early Help at the City of York Council, a role I held for over twelve years. During this time, I was the link worker for Millthorpe and visited the school regularly. That experience shaped my belief in the power of collaboration and the importance of linking internal school support with external services to provide the best outcomes for students and their families. While working with the Early Help team, I completed a degree in Educational Leadership, which has greatly influenced my approach in school. I’ve used this knowledge to lead staff training sessions on Early Help and safeguarding practices, helping colleagues better understand how to support students who may be facing challenges beyond the classroom

During my time here at Millthorpe I have progressed from a Deputy Head of Year to Deputy Designated Safeguard Lead, now to my current position as Progress Leader. My experience as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead has been invaluable in helping me create a supportive environment where students feel safe and able to succeed.

The thing I enjoy most about Millthorpe School is its sense of community – how everyone, pupils and staff alike, come together and support one another. It is such a wonderful place for learning and growth. I enjoy seeing the students each day, learning about their lives, skills and aspirations.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have two children – one who has just finished university, and another who is in the Royal Air Force and has spent most of this year overseas, which makes catching up tricky. I also love traveling and always enjoy planning new trips away.
