I genuinely believe I have the best job in the world – and I absolutely love it! No two days are ever the same. I’m passionate about ensuring every student can access their education, and I truly believe that at Millthorpe, students are supported by some of the best teaching staff in York. I’m incredibly proud to be part of the Millthorpe team.

I have worked at Millthorpe since 2022. I started as Deputy Head of Year 8 and have progressed into the role of Year 10 Progress Leader. My role involves supporting the whole year group with their academic progress and ensuring everyone feels well-supported and encouraged while at school. Alongside this, I also monitor the behaviour and attendance of everyone in our year group. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is watching students grow and mature during their time at secondary school, ultimately becoming confident, successful young adults as they move on to their post-16 destinations.

Prior to Millthorpe, I worked in post-16 education at York College as Pastoral Head of Construction. In this role I supported students to achieve their desired qualifications, gain work experience in the field, improve social skills and attendance in preparation for the world of employment.

Previously, I have worked in two other high schools across York doing several roles including KS4 Progress Manager, KS3 Nurture Leader, SEN Lead specialising in Autism and students with complex needs within an enhanced resource provision.

Out of work, I recently got married and I am enjoying life as a wife along with being a busy mum of four! I am super proud of all of my children for many reasons. Most recently my youngest twin sons have graduated from Army College and are starting their journey into the world of work within the British Army. My eldest son is due to return home from university and start his new career working within the criminal justice service. My daughter is currently due to start her second year at university and has aspirations of working in the police force in the future. With my children all coming and going, home can feel a bit quiet at times – luckily, I have my labrador, Bella, to keep me busy!

I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I like to travel and explore new cities along with dancing the night away at music concerts.
