I have been working in education for the last 14 years. I started my journey supporting students with special educational needs then transitioned to working with schools’ most challenging students creating a student Hub that supported their teaching and learning, creating a safe space, as well as preparing them for leaving school and gaining employment. Since 2017, I was the Pastoral Lead for Year 7, focussing on transition from primary to secondary and after COVID, saw my year group through to the end of Year 11. I moved to Millthorpe in 2024 after my previous Year 11s finished their exams. I got to meet my lovely year group whilst they were still in Year 6, visiting primary schools and on trips to Crucial Crew. I am extremely lucky, some may say biased but I truly have a great year group and I cannot wait to see their progress over the next four years as their Progress Leader. I am also a qualified swim instructor, teaching babies all the way through to adults for over 18 years – some of those swimmers have ended up in my year groups and some have become household names!

I am the eldest of four – my sister lives in Australia and my mum lives in Spain. My favourite human in the whole wide world is my grandma who is currently in a home and suffers with Dementia. I come from a very close-knit family of aunts, uncles and cousins who all support each other. I have a girl gang of nieces who I adore and try and I spend as much time with them as I can. I am lucky enough that my friends are the family I choose and I have a work family that I adore and could not do the job without.

When I am not working or having family time, you will find me running all over the country (and world!). My favourite distance is a half marathon – I am currently running 20 this year to reach my 100th half marathon. I am also chasing 100 marathons (I’m currently on 34 with six more planned for 2025). Over the last ten years of running, I have raised over £12,000 and am currently raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

When I want to give my feet a rest you will find me at Manchester Airport flying off to a new destination, where I’ll usually walk 30,000 steps a day minimum. No tourist spot or hidden gem is left unturned! After COVID I made a conscious effort to travel the world as much as I can, exploring the well-known hotspots to falling in love with the lesser-known countries and cities.
