A message from Ms Greenhalgh
With just two weeks to go of this first half-term of the school year, it really feels like we are hurtling towards the October half-term break at a rate of knots! We’ve had another great week and you can see by the long list of students who have received a Golden Ticket this week, that we are seeing lots of positive behaviour across the school. Colleagues have also been telling me how pleased they are with the uptake in our extra-curricular activities; I am delighted that so many are taking the opportunity to do something they enjoy. There really is something for everyone – you can take a look at the full list of activities here.
We’re looking forward to meeting prospective students and their families at the Open Evening next Tuesday. This event gives us a great opportunity to showcase why we think Millthorpe is unique and it’s always a moment of great pride for me to talk to our next cohort of students about all the great things we do here.

#WakeUpWednesday – A parent and carer guide to BeReal
BeReal is the latest trending social media app. The concept is that people see others in their authentic day-to-day lives, sharing candid photos without editing or applying filters. Each day at a random time, users are simultaneously notified to take a photo of what they’re doing at that exact moment. The two-minute window to submit an image means there’s no time to select a particularly glamorous or exciting activity. BeReal shares two pictures: a selfie, and an image of the immediate surroundings. Users can only view and react to their friends’ photos once they upload their own.
In this guide for parents/carers, you’ll find tips on a number of potential risks such as strangers, location sharing and visible personal data.
Students performing in upcoming productions
A couple of weeks ago, we told you that some of our students are taking to the boards this December, performing in two theatre productions: The Sound of Music and Nativity the Musical.
Apologies to Violet-Evie in Year 8 whose name we got wrong! Violet-Evie, Freddie and Freya in Year 8 and Poppy in Year 10 amongst others, would love you to go along to see them in action.

They operate an out-of-hours service so concerns can be raised with them at any time.
